Baptism on the Sacramento River-1870
by Robert Little

Adult Division
2nd Place Winner
Much information was circulated about the church in those early days (1870s). This resulted in religious
persecution. At one time, when President Garlick was going to hold a baptism on the banks of the Sacramento
River, a friend from work told him that a mob was going to attack them during the service. He promised that he,
and other co-workers, would also be there to protect the Mormons. The mob appeared on schedule, but when they
saw Aaron's friends, they caused no trouble and the baptism that day of seven persons was accomplished.
